Still there are so many ways: There will be some houses arround you, you should have some friendly movement with them, and should have some adjustment on those three days. You can use simple menu on those days or you can use the previously prepared " Podi (powder) " , Pulikkaichal, Pickles etc. Or you can arrange some temporary lady cook for those days regularly. But my policy is, we should enjoy all the things whether it is good or bad (which we feel bad, but it is actually good to mould our character etc.) equally on the way of our life. Yes what is there for a man - to cook for those 3 days.. see the sun and moon has not changed - so does the Sasthrams. There is a meaning in each and every thing which was told by our ancestors in the form of Sasthram - So, it is for us to follow it even at the worst situation. I would say IF THERE IS A WILL - THERE IS A WAY. The 3 days issue is after all a small one which any one can manage - if they wish to follow the policy or sasthram. that is it.. any other excuses would sound only LAME. In our houses - ladies prepare idly maavu, adai mavu, podi, fried vatral appalam, etc. and gents keep only rice and dhal in the cooker ... and some how manages by getting fruits for Perumal Aradhanam. My father used to say that Ladies shall never go near Agni on those 3 days. whether it is gas or Kattai aduppu! In some families, Gents prepare NALA BAAHAM on these 3 dyas and serve with all their joy and happiness!!!!
