SINCE SOORYAGRAHANAM ALSO COMES ON THAT SAME DAY, WE HAVE TO PERFORM ONLY " GRAHANA KALA THARPANAM " . " AMMAVASAI THARPANAM " NOT TO BE PERFORMED... KINDLY CLARIFY DASAN.. SRINIVASAN (VAIKANASAM) ***Adiyen, There are difference of opinion between vidwans itself. I cam to know that as per 'Nrusimha priya' no need to perform as per 'Paduka' to be performed Amavasai Tharpanam also. My practical cum logical sense is indicating that performing Amavasai Tharpanam will be correct. Because, when a question raised as " When Masa pirappu and Amavasai takes place on the same day which should be performed " ? The answer is : If you are regularly doing tharpanam on all Masapirappu, that should be done otherwise Amavasai. Also I feel " Adhiriktham is better than nyunam " . Adhiriktham = Excess Nyunam = Shortage In practical pepople can not wait without eating anything upto the end of Surya grahanam. And some will have trouble to do Grahana tharpanam by sankalpam timings, nyamams etc. It is not at all sin one more time giving some ell water.
