Guest guest
Respected acharya, (Kindly avoid using this word Acharya - nvs) namaskarams. Kindly elaborate the significance of mudi erukkum prarthanai(head tonsuring), tradionally followed in almost all hindu families. Also during upanayanam the bramhachari sama veda saka adhyayi gets his head tonsured & in other sakas appala kudumi is sported. Pranams. ramanan(Poona) Ramanan-Saroja ***As per Samskarams to a brahmin child weather male or female, Jadhakarma,Naamakarana,Annaprasana or common and Chowlam for male and Chooda karma for female is regarding the " Mudi " vishayam. Every karma has its own period. Olden days, the chowlam or chooda karma are done in the prescribed time on three years of the child. People started to doing it in their own kulatheivam temple. Because already there is a 'Praarthana to do mottai' at temples. Why do mottai?, Loosing our good appearance also a type of sacrifice and hence it is treated as a 'Kaanikkai'. So, 'Chowlam' or 'Chooda karma' is getting mingled with people they started doing it in temples, which later became as a traditional act. Best regards, nvs (it takes much time to type as VAsu VAdhyAr)
