Guest guest
Dear Vaishnavas and Mrs.Meena Rajan. Karungulam is Thirunelveli district.. near Tiruchendur... many web links are available - giving details of this temple. i give below some info .. which could be of some use to asthigas who wish to go and worship perumal. Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan Vagulagiri Srinivasa Temple is located at the top of the Garuda Hill at Vagulagiri, in Tuticorin District of Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity is Lord Vishnu, popularly known here as Venkatachalapathy. The significance of the temple is that the lord here is in Arubam (no figure of human form) with two sandal wood sticks placed side by side in the sanctum sanatorium. Legend is that the lord of Tirupati had offered darshan to the poor devotees of this place who were not able to reach Tirupati. It is also held that one should visit the Marthanda Eeshwara Temple before visiting the Lord's shrine at the top of the Garuda Hill. Tamiraparani River flows near to this temple. Special pujas are conducted during the second Vishnupathi of the Vikrama year. Devotees throng the temple during this time and offer five different kinds of rice dishes (coconut rice, sweet rice, tamarind rice, yoghurt rice and lime rice) to the Lord as nivedyam. This nivedyam is then distributed to the poor and the needy. Vagulagiri Srinivasa Temple can be reached from Karungulam by road. It is about 9 km from Tiruchendur.
