There are competent Bruhaspathys at number of major temples here to perform all Vaidhika samskArams . If no one is available there , then you can travel to one where they are available . For instance , at our Sri Ranganatha Temple , where high standards of AchAram and anushtAnam are maintained , there are two highly competent Bruhaspathys . One is a GhanapAdi ( Sri Venkatesh) from VaduvUr Veda PaatasAla . The other is Sri Venkata Vardhan Swamy from Chennai , whose specialty is UpAdhyAyam . You can look at our web site and contact the temple: http://www.Ranganatha.org There are fire codes at most of the temples , which will not permit open fire . When we have to do Sudarsana Homam , we turn off the fire alarm . There should not be any problem at few homes . Many live in apartments here . that will also not make it easy to have open fire . The Fire dept will be at your door , if there are fire alarm and smoke detectors in the apartments . Getting SwamigaL is a tougher issue . Only thru friends and families that can be done to the best of one's ability .Many do HiraNya SrAddhams for that reason here . Some do AnnadhAnams on that day although it is not the equivalent of regular SrArddham . One of my friends arranges his vacation schedule to be at home to have the SrArddham done at home .This may not be practical for many who return home based on their children's vacation . If you miss one SrArddham because of visiting your family or living here , there are provisions in our Saasthrams as to when it should be done ( Next Thithi , KrishNa Paksha AmAvAsyai , EkAdasi etc ) , when one returns home . Sriman Vaasu VaadhyAr is the best to comment on these sufficencies and deficencies of different approaches , when standard Srarddham can not be performed due to the difficulties cited . We do not have the tapO balam of Swamy Desikan to invite Sri Hayagrivan , ThiruvengadamudayAn to take part in our house SrArddhams . In his case , jealous neighbors/fellow villagers made it difficult for Him to invite Swamis. PerumALs stepped in and helped to conduct the SrArddham . As the immigrant population grows and matures , I visualize the creation of centers at major cities atleast where SrArddhams as well as apara kaaryams are done with competent adhikAris as if it is in India . There are vadhyars available to do at home. In most of the temple, only hiranya sraddham is offered for a nominal donation of $51 to the temple. In the Maryland temple, parvana sraddham service is available (http://www.ssvt.org). All freelance priests can offer services anywhere in US. It may be difficult to find people for nimantaranam, for which swamin can request his friends. ======================================================= Sri.
