Guest guest
Dear Sri VAsu VAdhyAr swAmi, The upakarma function will be coming up in August for Rig, Yajur and Saama Vedis. A part of this function which I have heard about but never seen performed is the upaakarma homam. Can I enquire the details of how this homam is performed for Yajur and Saama Vedis? If it is too difficult to perform can we just recite Vedam instead? I may also be helping some Yajur Vedi friends here to perform upakarma and wanted to know if the homam is a necessary part of the function. Regarding Saama Vediya procedure, I don't think your pdf file had any details about homam there. Any guidelines would be appreciated, many thanks in advance for whatever information you can give. with praNAmams, namO nArAyaNAya Ranjan *** Sama Vedha Upakarma Homam has very very long procedure which can not be and should not be done without a proffessional Vadhyar. What I had given for sama vedham and yajur vedham is much enough for performing the upakarma by self. nvs
Guest guest
Dear Sri VAsu VAdhyAr swAmin, Thanks for the clarification. I will just recite " Agni suuktam " / " Brahma Suuktam " from Saama Vedam instead. One thing I remember I wanted to ask last year is what the manthrams for wearing maunji, ajina and daNDa were for saama vedis, if it is different from Yajur vedis and if there is any swaram for those manthrams etc? This may sound very early for upaakarma in August but I may be out of the country for some time, which is why I am asking early... any suggestions much appreciated. many thanks with praNAmams namO nArAyaNAya Ranjan *** No swaram is required for any Saama Vedha Prayoga manthrams. Swaram is required for only " Saama Gaanam " . There are a very little difference between Yajur and Samam for the mounji wearing manthra. I try to post it in our website in this week. nvs vaideekam , " rvv21 " <ranjan wrote: > > Dear Sri VAsu VAdhyAr swAmi, > > The upakarma function will be coming up in August for Rig, Yajur > and Saama Vedis. Guest guest
Dear SrimAn NVS swAmin, members, This is definitely my last question for this year about upaakarma. I should have perhaps collected all of them and then asked them in one post! My last doubts are: I have seen the " kaamo karsheet " japam on the procedure for yajur vedis. But I have never seen this in saama veda upakarma. As I understood this manthram is talking about things done out of greed or anger. This being the meaning, I was wondering if there is a reason why sAma vedis do not do this as well? Or is it something obvious that everyone should do on upaakarma day so they left it out because it was obvious? thanks in advance namO nArAyaNAya with praNAmams Ranjan
