BhagavatGita sloka is not to be used when the question paertains to the Dharma shastra. The varnas told by the bhagawan refers to the pravritti of each catogory and the path one should take according to one's svaroopa. Svaroopa virodha will not yield the maximum results, That 's the intention there. However the Marriage and castes in question should be referred to Dharma Shastras by Manu (mainly --for this chatur yuga) or other prajapatis. One can find the reference in Grihya sutras. Dharma shastra is more like the law of the land. Per my knowledge, a higher varna person can marry the lower varna provided he marries the higher varna first. For females it is considered as a detereoration in the Soul's life path. You should read Hndu law or Many smrithi to get more idea. Discussing with Bhagawat Gita and other philosophical texts is not justified. Take Care,Venkata

Dear EverybodyNamasteI live and work in Andhra Pradesh. My work takes me to various parts of the State - remote and under previliged. My work also creates situations where I meet so called " India Intellectuals" who do not live in India, but advice how Indians should live. Unfortunately, even the popular electronic media is eulogizing these qualities, poisoing young minds. Our recent point of discussion was Marriages in Hindu community. They were quoting Bhagavadgita saying god created only 4 varnas no castes, there fore justified thier and their friends actions of marrying from other castes, communities and even foreigners [whites]. I could not match with thier verbal sofistry or loud voices. can we discuss this and put this in perspective. I look forward for guidance and enlightnment from everyone. pranamamsJyothirmayee Kidambi***"Chaathur Varnam mayaa shrushtam" is the Gita

slokam, gives the meaning what you / they are using. One should keep a thing as 'Pramaanam' (Evidence / authority) then he should keep it for ever and should give equal respect to all verses found in it.Bhagavan insisting in Gita itself 'Karma yogam, Bhakthi yogam, Gnana yogam and finally the 'Prapathi yogam'. The mankind were splited into several group according to their beliveness in God and spirituality. We must accept thar there are many gatogories of mankind with a typical way of living and keeping some formalities since thousands of years. Culture and formalities are the foundations of civilized mankind. Just imagine a world without cultural festivals, functions, gatherings etc. A wise one should not be a cause to break this foundation. There is nothing to discuss more on this, every one is having right to do anything according to his will and wish. We should not try to stop him, let him expand his relations ship even with animals etc. "Vinaasa
