Guest guest
Sri: Sri NVS swamin, dasoham. In June 2006 issue of Sri Ranganatha Paduka, a swamin has requested a clarification on performing sraddham for his late brother, whose wife passed earlier, in question-answer section. His late brother has a daughter that he could not locate. Hence he performed the final rites and observed 13 days rituals. He was performing masiyam every monthwith Hiranya sraddham. He indeed performed varshaptikam. He was seeking about pratyaptikam. The author explained that there were two brathas (seemanda bratha, sannihita bratha). For seemanda bratha, sraddham should be performed like pitru, pitamaha, prapitamaha with pinda pradhanam and homam. For sannihita bratha, laukikagni should be performed. adiyen could not understand this. Can swamin explain this please? Does this mean that hiranya sraddham to be done for prathyaptikam? How is the sraddham for sannihita bratha different from pitru sraddham? - dasan vachika doshaha kshantavyaha. *** Let me check that issue and try to clarify. nvs
