Guest guest
My father passed away on the night of 22nd. sep. I m the only daughter ; but I have 3 brothers. I want to know my duties and obligations as a a daughter in performing his final rites, as he was a ardent sishya of the Mutt and strict follower of all sampradayams. kalyani *** Participation in the kainkaryam upto subhasweekaram is the only thing you have to do. If any festival takes place on any day on or after 4th day you should not leave it and should do for the sake of your own family and children atleast in a very simple manner. If possible or if your health permits you can cook annam for nithyavidhi daily or in possible days with the guidance of your Bruhaspathy. There is a formality in many places that a daughter and or grand daugthters may separately or combinedly do the required bhakshanams to distribute on the 10th day. Your husband (if you are a married woman) can sit in the 11th day or 12th day kainkaryam in the place of " Pretha " varnam and do the pryaschithams as described. (You could not expect others will do with this much of shradhdhai) Keep in knowledge that wheather vaideekas and cooks are doing the duties with shradhdhai to complete the kainkaryam in a good manner. For that ask the cooks to do separate thaligai with separate group of cooks for both pithrus and pretham. They should not evern touch this and that. Cooks are telling, gee and some other things can be kept in common, I won't allow it. Nothing should be kept in common. Ask your brothers keep stomach empty till the end of daily karma. This much only I rember to tell at present, but you can ask any number of question for all your silly doubts regarding kaikaryam, I am ready to clarify it. nvs nvs
