ON WHAT OCCASSIONS DO WE NEED TO CHANGE YEGYOPAVEETHAM

Dear Shri NVS Mama,

 

On what occassions do we need change poonal? I have been regularly doing

Sandhyavandanam and have been to one of my friend's death. Do I need to

change the poonal immediately after a visiting a death? What are the

circumstances where we need to COMPULSORILY change the poonal.

 

Please advice.

*** Folowing are the Compulsory situation to change the Yagnopaveetham.

1. All karmas which is indicated as 'Yagnopaveetha thaaranam' is a part of it.

(This is a big list, it can be done automatically by the Vadhyar.)

 

2. When happen to touch a dead body, or bearing it for Smasaanam.

 

3. Whenever you feel the Present Poonal is weak or damaged.

4. After all three days and 10 days theetu. (The next day of the completion of

the theetu.)

This much I remember now. Later I try to post a perfect list.

Also, I guess each change of 'Yagyopaveetham' should warrant 1008 chanting of

Gayathri too. Is'nt it?
