New Year Svasthi Vachanam/Anugraha BhAshaNam form HH Srimath Azhagiya Singar : Part I

Dear AasthikAs :

 

This morning , we were blessed with the anugraha

BhAshaNam of HH Sri NaarAyaNa YathIndhra MahA

Desikan ( Prakrutham Srimath Azhagiya Singar)

from SelayUr , Chennai , where the Malola PaadhukA

Sevakar is camping with His AarAdhana Moorthy ,

Periya Periya PerumAL , Sri Lakshmi Nrusimhan .

 

He recalled fondly the recently concluded SathAbhishEkam

at Srirangam and highlighted the aspects of which that touched

His heart very much :

 

1. Location of Srirangam , where 15 years ago He was selected

to become the successor to HH MukkUr Azhagiya Singar , who

built the towering South Gopuram for Lord RanganAtha. It is

appropriate for us to recall that there were 5,000 AasthikAs ,

who attended the Aasarama Sveekara uthsavam of Prakrutham

Azhagiya Singar and 25,000 sishyAs and Abhimaanis as well

as Ubhaya Vedaantha Scholars attended the grand SathAbhishEkam

at Srirangam .

 

2. The Veda PaarAyaNam by 750 Vedic experts , who recited

the four Vedams including some in Kramam , Jadai , Ghanam

modes . Srimath Azhagiya Singar pointed out His Aaardhya Moorthy ,

Sarva Karma SamArAdhyan , MalOlan swung gently in His Dolai

and listened intently to the Veda ViNNappam from the assembled

scholars and enjoyed the PaarAyaNams . All the 750 Veda PaarAyaNam

participants were recognized on the Thirunakshathram day

with feliciatory citations and grand sambhAvanais . The Vedic

Pandits fully appreciated the unique recognition given to their

fields of specialization in Veda bhAgams and modes of rendering

them in front of MalOlan embracing with affection Sri Devi seated on

His left thigh , while gently going back and forth on His dolai .

 

3. The Vidhvath Sathas that assembled every afternoon after

the day's TadhiyArAdhanam . Advanced Scholars in Sri BhAshyam

and other fields took part and there was room for budding Scholars

as well to show their vidvath .Every one of them were recognized

and appropriate SambhAvanais were given . The top fifteen Scholars

recived sambhAvanai of 40,000 Rupees that covered Cash of 10,000 Rs,

One savaran Gold coin , half a kilo Silver vessel for use in daily

anushtAnam , PonnAdai/Saalvai ( worth Rs.3,500 ) and travel

expenses . Junior VidwAns in were encouraged to feel

comfortable at this Mahaa Sadas and were recognized appropriately .

 

4. Both the Veda PaarAyaNam and Vidvath sathas along with

daily upanyAsams in uLL Desikan Sannidhi at the Srirangam

Temple . This sannidhi for Swamy Desikan is right in front of

Sri RanganAyaki in Her TanikkOil .That is two furlongs away

from Her Lord's sannidhi . Until 150 years ago , after Viswa

Roopam seavi , the garlands worn by Sri RanganAyaki were

presented to Swamy Desikan by the archakAs in recognition

of Sri RanganAyaki giving the title of Sarva Tantra Svatantrar

to Swamy Desikan .

 

5. TadshiyArAdhanam for attendees at the Uthsavam for all

the days of the Uthsavam at Multiple places . No one went hungry

at any time .

 

6. Approximately 6 crores were spent in handling all the above expenses

and the sishyAs had poured in 6-7 crores as their SamarpaNams .

Hence Srimath Azahgiya Singar did not have to dip into core funds

reserved for other Kaimakryams .

 

7. SishyAs also presented Malolan with nearly 2 crores worth of

AbharaNams . Other sishyas covered the expenses for the construction

of the huge hall next to the DasAvathAra Sannidhi built originally by

Thirumangai AzhwAr .

 

8. PattiNa PravEsam : A wonderful Pattina Pravesam in a highly

decorated Palanquin borne by Sri matam SishyAs took place .

As a Raaja SanyAsi , Srimath Azhagiya Singar is entitled to

riding in Pallakku . The ride thru two major Raaja veedhis of Lord Rangarajan took place on the night before Thirunakshathram

to the accompaniment of Veda PaarAyaNam , Multiple Naathaswara

ghOshtis , KolAttam by the Ladies , Dancing horses and walking

elephants . The residents of the Utthara and Chitthara Veedhis

presented PoorNakumbhams and MaryAdhais and were blessed

with Phala MantrAkshathai .

 

All of these acitvites pleased Sriamth Azahgiya Singar and HH thanked

every one who contributed to the enormous success of His SathAbhishEka

Uthsavam .

 

In the next posting , adiyEn will sumamrize Srimath Azhagiya Singar's

anugraha BhAshaNam on the unique AakAra Thrayam aspects of

Sri DEvi in our sampradhAyam and the Yeka Seshithvam doctrine

of the dhivya dampathis . Srimath Azhagiya Singar touched also on

the Abhaya Hastham and Thiruvadi of Lord Ranganthan and their

significance for us all .
