Guest guest
SrI: Dear Sri ParthasArathy : AgnihOthram is an OupAsanam to be performed twice daily by married man (Stroke of Sunrise and Sunset) . It is therefore not needed for BrahmachAris . Once the wife dies , this oupAsanam will be discontinued by the widowewr ( Vithuran) . NambhUdhris of KeraLA have some variations . It is simple to perform . It does not have too many elaborate mantrAs . I have written about it in 1998. Please do a google search on Agnihothram . You will find plenty of Information . I have copied the Vaideekam for any additional comments . V.Sadagopan *** My Ananthamana thendan Samapiththa Vignapanam to Sriman Sadogopachar Swmin for again understanding my intention and supporting me. *** I have book with complete prayogam for Agnihothram, but never I tried to open it. I doubt that Nithya Oupasanam is different from Agni Hothram ( let me refer and confirm it) which requires manthropadesam from a Sadacharyan. Oupasanam is a simple Karma which does not require Upadesam and there are two three methods to follow it. I am happy to discuss more about it. nvs - " Venkatesh Parthasarathy " <venkat.partha " Oppiliappan Group " <Oppiliappan > Friday, February 16, 2007 2:17 AM Agnihotram > Hello Friends, > > What is agnihotram? Upanishad or other parts of vedham are not direct advice for the shisyas who are learning them. They are common advice for all 'jivas'. Gruhastha Ashramam is also a good dharmam, but we could not advice a ten year old boy to adopt that dharmam immediately. So, Nobody (except rushis) can reveal / explore the inner meaning of a portion of vedham, so, we should not try to get the meaning of a bit of vedham to / for practice. For this purpose only Rushis made Smruthees for our Anushtanams, it is more than enough for us to keep the Anushtanams in practice. Our Acharyas made everthing clear in their books about Aahniham, So, there are subjects in tons to discuss 'Who'. 'Where','When' and 'How' about the instructed Anushtanams, why we have to worry about it?! nvs
