Dear " Sudham 18 " :

 

The best time to recite Gayathri is

during Dawn , Noon and Dusk ( Pratha: ,

MaadhyAhnika and Saayam Sandhyaa ).

 

It is only for those who have had Upanayana

samskAram .

 

108 or 1008 times recitation is the best .

 

10 times recitation is adhamam and 28 is madhyamam

and 108 or 1008 is Utthamam .You would not only have to recite

the Gayathri mantram but also reflect on the deep meanings

of this Veda Mantram . The Vedic svaram relating to

this Rg Veda mantram has to be maintained .

 

As a part of the 2007 Ahobilavalli e-book series ,

I will be writing about Gayathri , Saavithri and

Sarasvathi from the Vedic perspective . I plan to

write about the form of Gayathri ( the significance of

the five faces , ten eyes , ten arms , the weapons et al)

as well as Gaayathri AshtOttharam and places for

perfroming Gayathri Japam and what to sit on

during the Japam ) and a lot more .
