Guest guest
dear friends I want to know what' s avahanti homam and why use it please. thank you very much. ***************************** Avahanti Homam is one of the dozen or so Homams done today for a variety of purposes although original intent was for the Vedic Teacher to perform this homam to make sure that his disciples come to him to learn without hindrance . The mantrams are the center piece of Sikshavalli of Taittireeya Upanishad dealig with Brahmacharyam observance , PraNav upAsana and VedAdhyanam . There are a lot of Vedic references to the word " Aavahanthy " which means to offer , bring forth ( " kasmai dEvA: Balim Avahanthy " ) . Today it is done for wealth , vidhya and general prosperity ( Commercial , agricultural) . Usually Avahanthy ,Aayushya , Mruthyanjaya and Danvanthri homams are part of Vardanthi celebrations ( birth day , long life and health) . These are fire ceremonies with proper use of the savraas of Veda Mantrams and therefore can not be learned form books . V.Sadagopan
