Guest guest
Hare Krishna Dear All Please go through the attached document which describes about the Chaturmasyam austerities and benefits. it clearly says that any devotee of the Lord can observe Chatumasyam Vrata. I hope this could help you. This text is from Hari Bhaki Vilas written by Sanatana Goswami one of the Six Goswamis in the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya (Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu) your servant thiruppathi On 5/11/07, Jyothirmayee Kidambi <jkperfect wrote: Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Parabrahmane NamahaDear All,can housewives (working) follow the chaturmasyam, if yes, guide me pleaseregards to one and allJK***I could not understand what you are actually wish to know; butChathurmasya sankalpam is not for gruhasthas only for Sanyasi sBasically Sanyasi s should not stay in a same village for couple of days without any sankalpam to do any task. Due to protect from rain and thunder etc. they are permitted by sastram to stay in a village continuously for maximum four months during monsoon (rainy season). For that they were provided some procedures which is called chathurmasya sankalpam. So, I there is no question of housewife / gruhini or a gruhasthan.nvs
Guest guest
Dear swamin I am having a doubt. If possible pls clarify In veda chaturmasya is often referred. Whether that is same as this vratha or different. Because " pra chathurmasya yAji meeyatha " and replies that he will not die who practices chathurmAsya. Dasan Srinivasan Kottiappan Venkatachalam wrote: *** My policy is : There are several things we should know about and follow / adapt which are described as " Aajgna Kainkaryam " . (Sandhi, Agni Santhanam, Oupasanam, Chradham, Tharpanam, Upanayanam, Seemantham, Vivaham etc., are coming under this title. Even Perumal Thiru Aaradhanam is not coming under this.) This one (Chaathur Maasyam) is not coming under the above. I hope it is coming under Yathi dharma and hence our aacharyas are following it. Also Swami Desikan compels and explains in " Rahasya thrya Saaram " ... that " Saaram Asaaram Alpa Saaram cha thyajeth Bhajeth Saarathamam ... " There are many things described in Vedham like " Jyodhishta Homam " , " Aswamedha Yangnam " etc. Swamy Desikan advices us to leave all those things because they will one day bring back us to this miserable world again; (Ksheene punye madhya lokam .... Bhagavat Gita) So HE advices us to concentrate only in the things that are told in the " Upanishads " and which are called Saara Thamam. nvs
