AdiyEn Dhasan. Thamizh pulamaikku oru Udharanam yendru, idhai yeduthukkoLLalaam. Though, which came into parlance first is a subject for debate. one more example, along similar lines, may interest you. Before that, if the moderator thinks this is out of the scope of this group, kindly pardon adiyEn. There was a Thamizh poet who was very adept in "slEdai" thamizh. He once went to see a Doctor, and said as below. " Mukkaale yezhundhu moovirandu pOgaiyilE, akkaalil Aindhu thalai paambu kadiththadhu, adharkku marundhenna maruththuvarE? The Doctor who was equally adept in Thamizh, replied as below. " Paththurathan puththiranin miththiranin paththiniyin kaal vaangi thEyum" Did you understand? Meaning is as below MukkaalE yezhundhu - Early morning, after rising from bed Moovirandu pogaiyilE - 3 x 2 = 6 = aaru = river , those days it was the habit of the wise to get up before sun rise Akkaalil - in this leg Aindhu thalai paambu - Nerunji MuL - a kind of thorn with 5 sharp edges Kadithadhu - Pricked adharkku marundhenna maruththuvarE - what is the medicine, doctor? Now see the answer; Paththurathan - Dhasarathan puththiranin - puthiran is Son who is Sri.Raman miththiranin - mithran is friend, who is Vaali paththiniyin - Pathni is wife - who was Thaarai. kaal vaangi thEyum - Thaaraiyil, kaal vaanginaal, Tharai, meaning Floor. meaning, the Doctor asked him to rub his leg on the floor. Hope you enjoyed it. AdiyEn ramanuja dhasan, VAsudEvan Posted by: "N S Sampath" nssampath123 nssampath123 Mon Jun 11, 2007

7:46 am (PST) Dear Bakthas,Do you know the meaning of proverb "Pitchai eduthan perumal, athai pidunginathan hanumar"It goes to Ramayanam where after Rama gives his padugai to Bharatha and walks across the forest with bare foot. Torns prick his feet and he removes the thorns one by which struck his feet (pitch poduvathu), and Hanuman who witnesses this comes to him and ask Rama to sit in the nearby place and removes the thorn slowly with his hand. (pidunginathan) This actions has maruvi pitchai eudthathanam perumal, athai pidunginathan hanumar. This adiyen heard from one of the discourse which is being shared.adiyen, nochalur seshadri sampath
