Guest guest
Dear sirs, Kindly enlighten me with steps in performing the pooja in the house. 1) Can we light the lamp and perform Sandya vandanam in another place in absence of pooja room ( Now a days its common in apartments that we do not get Pooja room separetly ) . Can sandhya vandanam be performed on terrace of building and come down and lit the lamp at deities place . *** Do not include Sandhya Vandhnam in Pooja List. It is a duty not pooja, but it has some manthrams and slokams towards devadha, for whom the " Athma jyothi " is enough, no " Deepa Jyothi " is required. Also do not think the sandhaya vandhanam as very hard and strict ritual, instead of that take it very easy as brushing, bathing, combing, dressing etc. (if possible as breathing). 2) After Sandhya Vandanam what are the poojas need to be performed at dieties place. Kindly give me detailed description. I have observed many people that they lit the lamp and perform short pooja . In case of short pooja to be performed what are the essentials to be perfoormed. *** NO pooja is required or must. You just do sandhya vandhanam and not try to combine with any other ritual. 3) What are the rituals of Hindu women in day to day life. Regards kschakravarthy *** She should make her husband to be dharmavan as much as she can. She should stimulate and help her husband to perform all the karmas prescribed / listed in the sastram. All other things that ladies themselves might know well all the rituals than a man. (It is not my statement, it is in the sastram, it says, " If you don't know the 'Sookshamam' of sastram for a particular thing ask ladies about it " . nvs
Guest guest
With the permission of the moderator swamy, I wish to share my thoughts on the member's question in regard to the pooja performance. Pooja is worship and if that is directed to God it is also the prayer. Daily Pooja is daily worship or prayer. Sandhyavandanam is a prescribed nitya karma and therefore an ordained duty to do. Worship and prayer could be done in any manner one wishes to do according to one's own knowledge, sraddhai and capacity and time to spare. Bhagavath Aradhanam is the prescribed worship if one has a Saligramam in one's house. There are manthras and procedures for this and moderator mama has in his website given all the details. If there is no saligramam in one's house, one can sit before God's portraits and chant whatever stotras are known to him either by reading from the books or from one's own memory. Reciting Vishnu Sahasranamam, Panchayutha Stotram, Dwadasanama Stotram, Lakshmi Stotram and any of the 28 Stotras of Sri Vedanta Desika with devotion and sraddhai is a great pooja in my opinion. Lamps near the portraits should be lit as the first karma for a lady after taking bath. You can offer Pushpams to the portraits. After reciting stotras, you can perform Karpoora Arthi. Before that, you can submit to the gods in the portraits the food that you have prepared for the day and pray to God that He may take the food offered. You can offer fruits also. What is important in a pooja, in my view, is sraddhai, atma samarpanam by reciting stotras known and learnt and offer pushpams, fruits, food prepared at home daily, perform karpoora arthi and recite mangala slokams. Ladies can, before a portrait of Goddess Lakshmi, do kumkuma archana reciting the Lakshmi Ashtotram. One may go on saying more and more, but the above is indicative of how to perform Pooja. Adiyen Padmanabha Dasan T V Padmanabhan Advocate *** Dear TVP Sir, 'Pooja' is a very very general and basic term, with which we can not suggest anything. As you have detailed, Pooja is nothing but worshiping the God in any known manner. We have already given many special pooja materials in our website like, Sathyanaryana pooja, Sri Rama navami pooja, Vinayagar chathurthi pooja, Varalakshmi vradham pooja etc. etc. In that we have described, which are general for all pooja etc. So, they should try to get the basic idea from the available text and then ask for further doubts if any. Asking genrally pooja and giving answer for that again and again is mere waste of time. Members should try to search the previous answers first and then send their questions according to the search results. nvs
