Guest guest
Well Visitor, Upanayanam can be done by any one : Janagascha Upanethascha yascha vidhyaam prayaschathi Annadhaatha bhayathraatha panchaithe pithara: smruthaa: is a slokam which says one who is doing bhramopadesam at Upanayanam is also a father (in this slokam five such fathers are described). But there is no chance or necessity for change of the birth gothram. In the end of upanayanam itself you might have advised to say the abhivaadhi with your parent gothram pravarams. So, you have 100% right and it is your duty to do the shradham of your father / mother if this is the case. nvs On 7/30/07, gopica <gopica wrote: > > -------- > A new visitor to your site has sent you feedback using your Feedback Gear. > > Membername: deevalur > Gear Title: Your Feedback Please > > -------- > > Senders email: gopica > > > Message: > My father is no more.
