Guest guest
srI: sri nvs swamin, dasoham. i have two doubts on anushtanam/ritual. total lunar eclipse is visible in northern america on aug 28. Total Lunar eclipse is in force from 3.51 AM EDT to 6.22 AM on aug 28 . Moon sets at 6.22 AM and will not be visible after that. Moon rises in the evening at 7.24 PM.EDT. Sun rises at 6.20 AM. paurnami tithi is in force up to 6.33 AM, then followed by prathamai. prathamai tithi ends on the next before sun rise at 4 AM. One checks the timings of lunar eclipse from NASA's link: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/aa_lunecl.pl Use Form A for uS cities and form B for the rest of the world. question1: When will one do gayatri japam? Is it after grahanam? What is tithi of the day, pauranami? One cannot perform sraddham on Grahana day. adiyen is asking for performing gayatri japam. because of grahanam should one continue fasting till 7 PM on that day? question 2: I am a sama vedi, so I do not have upakarma this time. For yajur vedin, is the upakarma on aug 28 because of paurnami tithi for 13 minutes during sun rise? again this isnly valid for cities in *** I don't remember such a condition I faced ever or not. So, I have some confusion or I don't have clear idea at this time. Also I not yet started practicing the time, thithi, star etc. calculations for foreign places. I hope, our co moderator Sadagopachar swamin may find a solution and let us advice in this regard. Kindly forgive me. dasan, nvs
