Guest guest
Dear swamin I agree that we should not doubt and question the sastras and their dictats. At the same time, if science unveils the goodness of certain practices, they should be highlighted to the world to tell the importance and relevance of our Sastras in today's world. All will be good, if we have only a minority that looks down on us. In the interest of our own people, it is preferable to answer certain doubts for which Science has provided some supportive answers. Take them as fourth level of proof and ignore them when they contradict like we do in the case of secondary and tertiary level of proofs (ithihaasaas and puraanaas). Adiyen Dasan, K Murali *** I accept your points also. If we start telling and discussing reasons in this group, that will take much time and much volume of this group moderators and resources, who already have tight schedule for other important works. I well come any of the interested and learned members of this group may start a new group and they can discuss the reasons for all the rituals and sastras it may be useful to convince persons who are interested in reasons. thanks, nvs
Guest guest
Dear Moderator, Namaskaram Thanks for explanation given on the above issue. After joining the group I have learnt a lot especially simple things like doing daily Sandhyavandanam, etc. I also learnt about the difference between what is Shastric and what is Sampradayam. I never knew these two were different and now with your explanation and that of Shri Padmanabhan I fully comprehend that Shastram has just got to be followed and there is no alternative and it is also unquestionable. I am really grateful for your guidance on Vaideekam matters. Dasan K. Vasudevan Answers - Get better answers from someone who knows. Tryit now. Guest guest
Dear Sriman Vasu Vadhyar, Namaskaram. I definitely agree with you fully on reasoning. There are certain things which needs no reasoning like we need not know the meaning of vedam to recite it, we need not know the meaning of daily rituals to perform it. Slowly we will know the reasons by ourselves that is the thatparyam of performing blindly. The most important thing however is, we should have the right Guru guiding us through to Sriman Narayana. I also used to question my father(he was a great soul) daily about various things like the meaning to Purushasooktam, etc. - he used to say tell it daily you will start understanding on your own and since we are Thatacharya, I learnt all from my father. He used to sit beside me daily and teach veda. He was an IAS officer himself and was very busy in official life but still without reciting veda and without doing his daily pooja he will never step out. Today also, I will never step out without performing sandhi and my daily pooja even if I have to catch flight at 5 am (I live in US and do lot of touring). I had no question on why should it be done till now. I had been a silent observer in this gorup till now but just wanted to share my thoughts on this. Kindly pardon me if I am wrong and I stand corrected. With lots of regards Adiyen Kannan *** Thanks, I welcome your points. nvs
