Oil bath is adopted in three occasions.

1. Weekly

2. Subhams

3. Deepavali

Weekly oil bath for purushas can be had on Saturdays.

Abhyanjana (Oil) Snanam is a must for bhokthas in chradhams.

Oil baths can be avoided on Amavasya for who is doing tharpanam, other's can

do.

All gruhasthas should take full (including head) bath everyday.

It can be skipped if the sareeram is not well for one or two days.

So, the father and sons should not take bath on Amavasya day is a base less

vadhanthi,

(Vadhanthi means roomer) which can be ignored.
