The question below is very interesting .

Seattle , Washington is 3,000 miles away

from New York , where I live .

 

When it is 7 PM in the evening here , it is 4 PM

at Seattle and 4.30 AM in the morning next day

in India .

 

It is not fair to trouble you about the time differences

and which way should overseas AasthikAs should

perform their anushtAnams & TarpaNams .

Thalai Avani Avittam clarification

 

 

Dear Sri Nrsimha Seva Rasika: svamin,

 

 

 

Please accept my forgiveness in asking this clarification despite svamin's many

posts on this matter.

 

 

 

I was told by my vaadhyaar in Chennai that Srimath Azhagiyasingar has

recommended that Thalai Avani Avittam be performed only on Purattaasi pournami

(sep 26th). I was advised that for my second son, Sriram (who has thalai avani

avittam) that we should change upaveetham on 28th (with gayithri japam, then do

japam) and then do adhyaayana homam on sep 26th only. I don't know if this is to

accommodate the grahana dosham or something else. If it is due to grahana dosham

then since the grahanam has different timings in Seattle (enclosed below) what

should I do?

All eclipse problems are found only in the month of August, not in the month of

september. So, it is found and sound good to perform the thalai aavani avittam

and as well as ordinary aavani avittam in the next month i.e in the september

month.

Because usually, due to any problem a person missed to perform the upakarma in

the month of aavani we will insist him to perform it in the next month.

If the upakarma performed in the next month there will be no " Akarana dhosham " ,

there may be a " Mukya kaalaadh Akarana dhosham " , which can be eliminated by

performing a praayaschitha dhanam.

 

More over the karma itself found " thaishyam powrnam maasyam adhyaaya uthsarjana

akarana prayaschiththartham " we are doing the 'Kaamo kaarsheeth' japam. So, we

can sure that there is a prayachiththam for not doing a karma in the right time.

 

In our case, we are in confusion about the right time, and we have our aacharyas

instruction to perform it on next month to free from all dhoshams. So, I hope

there will be no harm to performing the upakarma especially for foreign

residents in the month of september.

This is my own view with my experience.

Anybody can just ignore my suggestion if they are not agreeing with my views. I

am not ready to fight (argue) with anybody regarding this.
