Respected Vasu Vadhyar Swamin,

Daasasya Vignapanam.

1. It is widely told that we should take bath in river as far as

possible. I have a doubt in this. Are we supposed to use soap during river bath.

I heard soap should not be used during river bath to maintain the river's

sanctity . If it is so, how can we purify ourself? Is there any other alternate

for soap. Can we wash our cloth in river water?

2. My other doubt is how long a new dress will be considered as MADI

VASTHIRAM? Some one said it will be MADI VASTHIRAM only for one month provided

if it is not dipped in water.

3. Regarding PANCHA KACCHAM, it is told that we should not change pair

of MAIN VASTHIRAM and IDUPPU VASTHIRAM (Utthariyam). Is there any specific

reason that we should wear the Vasthirams of same pair?.

4. Kindly forgive me if I have posted many questions. I request your

honour to enlighten me by clearing these doubts.

1. Sastram stressing to take bath in river often. Using soap is commonly

admitted as unavoidable.

2. New Vasthram is not at all Madi. Shistas (Vaidhikas) do not use

the new vasthram as it is.

3. It is for our convenience, not sastram. If we part the pair later we will

misplace it, then the Veshti (Iduppu veshti) and the Uththiriyam also will go

waste.

4. No matter of forgiving for posting many questions it should be awarded, but

the questions will be meaningful and useful for all.
