Guest guest
Namaskaram, We are thenkalai swayamarcharyas and it is always regarded that only a few flowers are sanctioned for offerings to the Lord as archa murthy or in slagrama aradhanam. While some are restricted like Vadamalli, some varieties of sevanthikai etc Also it is said that these do restrictions do not hold good when offering these to the lord in the form of krishna. Can the learned persons in the group pls clarify, if the above is as per sastra , becoz adiyen with little knowledge abt agama satras is confused with what could be used for aradhanam and what should not be. Even i have a query regarding the above subject. I hv a small garden in my house where i get " sembaruthi poo " , " kanakambaram " , some unknown flowers.I feel instead of buying from outside, can i use these flowers which i gets everyday for my pooja? PB Sridevi Suresh. *** I have already posted a page of information in our website about the flowers which are uththamam, madhyamam and athamam in Tamil. I am giving it under in Unicode Tamil text, because I don't have time to type it in English, also I don't know few exact words to translate it in English for some flowers. Anybody can change the text in English and resend. Also I request respected members to kind enough to inform me; Is there any converter available to translate or transliterate the tamil text to English as it is in Phonetic form? If available I can give all the pages in English version also. nvs Here is the tamil text: 1. பிறர௠கொணà¯à®Ÿà¯ வநà¯à®¤à®µà¯ˆ, விலைகà¯à®•à¯ வாஙà¯à®•à®¿à®¯à®µà¯ˆ ( அதாவத௠தானே பயிர௠செயà¯à®¤à¯ கிடைதà¯à®¤ பà¯à®·à¯à®ªà®™à¯à®•à®³à¯‡ உதà¯à®¤à®®à®®à¯ எனà¯à®ªà®¤à¯ சாஸà¯à®¤à®¿à®°à®®à¯) 2. வனஙà¯à®•à®³à®¿à®²à¯ உணà¯à®Ÿà®¾à®•à¯à®®à¯ பà¯à®·à¯à®ªà®®à¯ மதà¯à®¯à®®à®®à¯. 3. தாமரை மொடà¯à®Ÿà¯, செணà¯à®ªà®• மொடà¯à®Ÿà¯ இவைகளைத௠தவிர மறà¯à®± பà¯à®·à¯à®ªà®™à¯à®•à®³à®¿à®©à¯ மொடà¯à®Ÿà¯à®•à¯à®•à®³à®¾à®²à¯ பூஜிகà¯à®•à®²à®¾à®•à®¾à®¤à¯. 4. சிகபà¯à®ªà¯ கà¯à®™à¯à®•à¯à®®à®ªà¯ பூ, தாழம௠பூ இவைகள௠தவிர மறà¯à®± à®®à¯à®³à¯à®³à®Ÿà®°à¯à®¨à¯à®¤ பà¯à®·à¯à®ªà®™à¯à®•à®³à¯ கூடாதà¯. 5. யநà¯à®¤à¯à®°à®®à¯, விகà¯à®°à®¹à®®à¯, படà¯à®Ÿà®¯à®®à¯, இவைகளà¯à®•à¯à®•à¯ தினநà¯à®¤à¯‹à®±à¯à®®à¯ அபிஷேகம௠செயà¯à®¯ வேணà¯à®Ÿà®¿à®¯à®¤à®¿à®²à¯à®²à¯ˆ. பரà¯à®µà®•à®¾à®²à®™à¯à®•à®³à®¿à®²à¯à®®à¯, à®…à®´à¯à®•à¯à®•à®Ÿà¯ˆà®¨à¯à®¤ காலஙà¯à®•à®³à®¿à®²à¯à®®à¯ அபிஷேகம௠செயà¯à®¯ வேணà¯à®Ÿà®¿à®¯à®¤à¯. Guest guest
Swamin, Regarding offering of flowers which are worthy and which are not worthy has already been given by NVS Swamin. We should think of the place where we are doing and whether everything will be available in that place is the main consideration which has to be taken in to account. If one has to tie the flowers with nar (plantain) which may not be available then the alternative is only nool. With money anything can be bought but some things are not possible. e.g doing sandyavandanam. Velukuddi Swamin used to tell this in each upanyasam. Think for some time whether you can assign this job just because of your richness, but you have to do it yourself. I have seen in DOLAI being performed in U.S.A, they use plastic flowers which are kept separately in a box and used for performing aradanai. If you don't get fresh flowers what else one can do. It is only the ATHMA SAMARPANAM which is very important an no matter what you use. A Pasuram by Nammazwar in his Thiruvoimozhi 10.5.5 which comes to my mind which is reproduced here. nAdir nAl thorum vAdA malarkondu pAdir avan namam VEEde peralame. Apart from the above regarding producing any article in tamil instead of getting it translated, one can scan the tamil script and attach the same which any one can open it and read. adiyen, nochalur seshadri sampath. *** Fine explanation. But I hope that Alwar is not mentioning Vaadaa Malar as the Plastic flowers? Sorry this is for fun. No more discussions required about it. nvs
