Dear Sri Vasu Vadhyar swamin,

There is one more question I have regarding Sama upakarma. I am a

little confused of the order of the steps.

At what point during the day should we do maadhyaahnikam? Is it

before starting deva/rushi tarpaNam or afterwards? And is it before

or after doing yagnyopaveetha dhaaraNam and vedaarambam?

Any tips much appreciated.

regards and praNaamams,

namo nArAyaNAya

Ranjan

(Any) Upakarma is to done only after madhyahniham.

In sama upakarma :

Yagnopaveetham is to be worn at the end of upakarma, which is in practice.

This is due to : " The Yagnopaveethams will be placed on the Khadam while doing

the rushi pooja and khada pooja " , then those yagnopaveethams will be distributed

to all participants of the pooja to wear.

But as per Vaideeka procedure :

In every vaideeka karma, yagnopaveetham is the first step.

" Yagnopaveetham should be worn at first to get the yogyatha to do that karma "

As I am gussing, the yagnopaveetham should be worn either twice,

one at the beginning and one at the end,

or

when we are not performing the khada pooja, there is no chance to keep the

poonal in the pooja, it will be free,

So either we can wear a poonal at the end or we can leave it.

So, wearing at the beginning is a must I think.

But most of the Saama Bruhaspathis are leaving the beginning poonal.
