Guest guest Posted September 14, 2007 Report Share Posted September 14, 2007 Sirs, According to the LIFCO publication about 'amAvAsyai tharpaNam', mahAlaya tharpaNam can be performed, during mahAlaya paksham, on maDhyAshtami or vyAthEpADham or gajachAyai or mahAbharani or on the thithi on which one's father passed away. I remember to have read/heard that the tharpaNam should not be done on one's own janma nakshthram day. It that correct? Thanks in advance for clarification. -Badri. *** Pithru thithi is not the first preference to perform Mahalaya Chradham. The order of preference is: 1. Madhyashtami, Mahabharani, Vvadheepaatham, Gajachaya like best punya kaalams which are not affected by the below three avoidable conditions. 2. Pithru thithi 3. Maathru thithi If a Chradham which has time to postpone to another day, then we can avoid all the following few things. 1. Janma Nakshathram of the kartha 2. Tuesday, Friday, Saturday 3.
