doubt on mahAlaya tharpaNam

adiyen has a doubt. For Mahalaya tarpaNam, is tarpaNam performed for pitru and

matamaha vargam ( 12 in total) or only pitru vargam?

 

When will one perform paraheni tarpaNam during mahalaya paksham?

The 12 twelve mentioned by you is general for Amavasai and

Sankramanam. There are additional six tharpanams to be performed.

 

They are called " KaaruNya pitrus " . This mahalayam is special for

those type of pitrus.

 

One more set of bhugnams to be put in the middle and they should be done
