Guest guest
Goodevening and Namaskarams to nvs mama, and all others. I would like to know the requirement of following the 41 day penance before performing a visit to Sabarimalai. I have never had the opportunity and good fortune of visiting Sabarimalai till date. Now next month, I am on a visit to Kerala and may be able to visit the holy shrine and avail of lord's blessings (by adorning malai one day before the visit); however, as my job requires frequent travelling I am not able to observe the requirements of the 41 day penance as required by shastras. I seek advise whether such a visit to Sabarimalai (without following the 41 day penance) is permitted and if can benefit of the lord's blessings; or should i desist from visiting the holy shrine now without observing the prescribed penance period. Guest guest
SrIman Sridhar, Namaskaarms. I cannot claim even a fraction of the erudition that pervades the posts on this subject so far. However I sincerely request one clarification. What is your interpretation of the sloka ''Sarva Deva Namaskaaraha Sri Kesavam pratigaCHati'' ? Also, the lord did say ''Sarva DharmAn Paitajya maam ekam sharaNam vraja''. He did not say ''Sarva Devaan Parityajya''... I would believe that as long as the above sentiments are foundational in one's faith and always act as guiding factors any (for the want of a better word) ancilliary display of faith or spiritual journey propitiating other devas would not necessarily be detrimental to a SriVaishanvas faith. My profound apologies if I have said anything inappropriate. A true vaishnavite is a person who surrenders himself to our Lord Sriman Narayana and he will no longer seek favours from other dieties, he understands and believesthat the Lord will take care of him and will always seek t he refuge of the lords holy feet. > > I beg your pardon , if I have hurt you , but going to tother deites for small favours is in turn a depiction of non trust in Sriman Narayana. > > Adiyen > Sridhar.S > > > > Sudarsan Parthasarathy.S. <sudarsanp > BKSRagavan <bks; vaideekam > Monday, 22 October, 2007 3:37:53 PM > Re: [Vaideekam] Visit to Sabarimalai > > Sri RAmajayam > SrimathE GopAla DEsikAya Namaha > > I am of personal opinion > > that sometimes we need to take solutions on certain > > trivial but persisting ailments by going to dieties > > like Sri Ayyappa, it will not be an act against > > prapatti. > > Please desist from personal opinions, and provide > qualified answers.
