Guest guest
Dear members, I read somewhere on the net quoting references from different sources like Vasistha, Yagnavalkya etc. about the age within which the upanayanam has to be performed for a boy. For a brahmin boy, this age is 16. Also, it says that after 16 years of age, he has no rights on Savitri. I know that there is the Gayatri (for the sun god - Savita?). So, if one has upanaynam after the age of 16, is he allowed to chant Gayatri and do the other japams. I would like to know the details like what should a person who had his upanayanam after 16 years keep in mind. Regards, Malolan
