Guest guest
Namaskarams We are planning to have my Sisters Seemantham in the next forthnight , we have a small confusion between the two families. We are thenkalai Iyengars , while my sisters husbnd side are Iyers - Smartha During Seemantham we have the usual practise of mooku pizhidhal ( paste made of tender alai leaves and cow milk ) , while her husband side has the tradition of smearing a bananaleaf with ghee and dropping the ghee in the would be mothers mouth Also Our Family follow sthe tradition of filling the would-be-mothers madi ( make her sit and fill her pallu ) with sprouted pasi pairu but her husbands side say that they have the practise of filling Rice and jaggery . Request the learned members of the group to throw some light Regards Sridhar.S *** No confusions. It is very simple. The Male side sampradayam should be followed always, because the girl is given to him as dhaanam to their family to keep their traditions. nvs
