Guest guest
Dear Shri Vasu Vadhyar,  I may be wrong but still I want to give my opinion !  We are allowed to marry only once and if that is taken into consideration the second one or any more after that, should not have the full rights as enjoyed by the first wife.  If this is correct then the first wife has to accompany and be present to complete the rituals.  Best Regards K. Vasudevan *** I had given this points in the Dharmasastram, please review. If the second marriage is as per sastram, then the agni sharing will also be done. >>>(I heard that only the first wife has the right to accompany the husband in all the vaideeka karmas? Even if she is not alive - the second wife has no right to join her husband during Karma karyams) >>> It is very wrong. If the second wife is having children, then she is having the full right to accompany to do all vaideeka karmas of her children with her husband. Also, always in naandhi constantly the vaakyam " Sapthni maadhu: pithru pithamaha prapithamahebhyo nama: " is there to give equal part for her ancestors also. If the jyeshta (former) pathni and the Kanishta (later) pathni are in the same place, then the jyeshta pathni gets all the rights. Otherwise the kanishta pathni also can have every rights. But for masyams in all (rig, yajur, sama) vedhams there are procedures to do chradham / masyam without pathni. Consult your bruhaspathi. If the second marriage is not according to sastram, better leave the pathni some where else and do vaideekams. nvs --- On Mon, 7/7/08, akkafrg <akkafrg wrote: akkafrg <akkafrg [Vaideekam] last rites and masyams vaideekam Monday, 7 July, 2008, 1:39 AM Dear Moderator One of my friend's father expired and last rites could not be done by him as he was away and his mother's kai pul was bought and last rites were done by one of his uncle. after that 10 to 14 days was completed keeping his first wife. For Masyams since he is doing it in his second wife's house she used to be with him doing agnisanthanam and theertham brokshikkarathu. Is it allowed by sasthram? I heard that only the first wife has the right to accompany the husband in all the vaideeka karmas? As the abtheegam for his father is nearing, i am raising this question - so that I can advise accordingly what to do if his 1st wife is not willing to accompany him for performing varushabthigam i would be thankful to have your advice adiyen *** Started as " Moderator " but in the middle " Can any one clarify this point " .
