Soorya Grahanam Vs Amavasai - which tharpaNam to be performed?

here is the sankalpa vaakyam for " Soorya grhaNam "

if a person who have a little sanskrit knowledge can understand it

very well.

" ....GothraaNaam ........SharmaNaam ..... pithru, pithamaha,

prapithaamahaaNaam ....

Akshayya thrupthyartham Sooryoaparaaga puNya kaale sooryoparaaga shradham

Thila tharpaNa roopeNa karishye "

from this sankalpam we can conclude the following things:

 

1. It is clearly mentione that this karma is pithruNaam Akshaya

thrupthyartham.

2. No where mentioned soorya devada thripthyartham or soorya devada

anugrahaartham etc.

3. The word Shradham is one and only for pithrus.

4. Also Thilam is not offered for any devadas (except Sani) other than

pithrus.

5. We are offering thilodhagam to our ancesstors only with their names

and relations and not saying any devada names.

So, we could conclude the grahaNa tharpaNam is meant for pithrus only

and not for others.

Further:

There is no chance for using " Incase soorya grahaNam happens on

Amavasya day " because,

Soorya grahaNam will take place on Amavasya day only as per science

(not only per saastram) which is also a very basic thing.

 

As we are doing tharpanams in grahana punyakalams to our pirthrus only

not to surya or chandra

If there is more than one punya kaalam on a same day, we select the

most valuable one out of them

to perform the tharpanam to our pithrus.

We can compare it with an example, if we have two lagnams on a same

day for subhams,

we will select the best one out of it.

The thing (subham) we decided to do on that day is same, but we are

choosing the best time to do that.

Like that,

Soorya grahaNa punya kaala time is greater than Amavasya punya kaala

time to perform tharpaNam and hence saastram is giving exemption to

perform tharpanam for persons who are in janana. maraNa theetu also.
