Guest guest
Dear Swamin, Namaskarams! When a nakshathram is present on two days, which day should it be observed on? In the US east coast, Aadi Pooram starts at 8:30 AM on Sunday, Aug 3 and is present until Aug 4, Monday, 9:18 AM. Which day should the nakshthram be observed for birth day and Aayush Homam? Namaskarams. Adiyen, Sridharan *** As per anushtanam in which day a star is present atleast 12 Nazhigai or about 5 hours from the sunrise is to be taken as the star of the day for the purpose of Ayushya homam etc. nvs
Guest guest
Dear Vasu Vadhyar, Namskarams! In reading swamin's reply about when to observe a nakshthram, adiyen has a confusion. In this case, the nakshthram is not present at sunrise on the first day (it comes at 8:41 AM, sunrise at 05:03 AM) and on the next day it is present at sunrise but only until 09:18 which is only about 4 hrs from sun rise. It is not required that the nakshthram be presnt at surise for it to be observed that day? Adiyen, Sridharan *** A star will remain minimum 22 hours of time. In which day it remains maximum time in the morning to be observed. nvs

The details are as given below: Sunrise: 06:28 Hrs. 18th Sep 08, Bharana starts at 10:17 Hrs and lasts until 07:38 hrs of 19 Sep 08 ( sun rise 06:29 Hrs on 19 Sep 08 ). Adiyen vasudevan *** As it is related to Tharpanam for pitrus, the vyapthi (duration) of the Star should be more in the afternoon. Hence I hope 18th (as per the details given by you) is Maha Bharani. nvs
