We hope that his recent visit to Apollo Hospital useful.Someone raised a doubt on number of days in observing Paksha mahalayam. Paksha mahalayam includes 15 days excluding Mahalaya Amavasyai. From krishna paksha prathamai to chaturdasi, there are 14 days. The 15 days count includes the sukla prathamai following Mahalaya Amavasyai. (In this year, sep 29). For a paksha mahalayam there are a total of 16 days .For sakrun mahalayam, the following days with nakshatrams: Revati, Makam, Rohini andtri Janma nakshatram (self, spouse & son) should be avoided. Also fridays. But this restriction does not apply to Mahabharani, Gajachchayai, madhyashtami, vyatipadam, avitava navami days.dasan.vachika doshaha kshantavyahadhanyavadahasarvam sri krshnarpanam astu
Guest guest
Dear mama Adayan dasan, Thanks for your mail. It is well clarified. I have one more doupt about the last day 28th sep 2008. For those who are doing all the days, the last day as per panchangam is Chathuthasi / amavasi. While sangalpam whether to say " chathudasyam or amavasiyam " . Which one we should say. What to do for the next day. whether to do tharpanam on next day or not (29th 2008). If we do on 29th 2008 what whould be the sankalpam (amavasiam or pradamayam). thanks and regards Ranganathan *** As we change the word morning / afternoon / evening while the time changes; thithi / star at the time of performance (of karma) to be used in sankalpams. for nvs
