Guest guest
Sri Ramajayam SrimathE GopAla DEsika MahA DEsiKAya Namaha Dear Swamy, Maternal grandfather of AdiyEn passed away on Deepavali (Chathurdasi), and my aunt wanted to check with AdiyEn what should be done for them/their children. AdiyEn replied to my Aunt, usually when something comes unusually it takes precedence over a frequent event. But in this case since both are occuring at the same time & frequency, AdiyEn would check with Vaideekam group and revert back to her. *** Comparing karma with festival is not correct. *** AdiyEn's guess would be, a. Observe Deepavali before sun-rise as per the norms (thaila Snanam, ArAdhanam, wearing new clothes, bursting crackers etc). This would mean any bhakshanam offered during ThiruvAradhanam can be consumed by my uncles/aunts only the next day. b. Observe ShrAddha as per the norms after sun-rise. *** Given points are acceptable as per practice but it can not be taken as granted by sastras. *** Since SAstras should not be left to guessing, seeking Swami's detailed guidance for my uncles/aunts. Guest guest
Sri RAmajayam SrimathE GopAla DEsika MahA DEsikAya Namaha Dear Swamin, From Swami's remarks it appears that AdiyEn's uncles & Aunts would look at Deepavali celebration before sunrise and ShrAddham after sunrise and consume any Deepavali prasAdham only after ShrAddham is completed. As for my cousins (ie. uncle's children) is there any restriction given that Deepavali festival and their paternal grandfather's Shraddha falls on the same day.
