Guest guest
Swamin, You have kindly answered that the Mahalaya Tarpanam should be done on the next day of Shradham [when sharadham falls in Purattasi]. Now, on the next day of shradham, parehani tharpanam is to be performed. Kindly clarify whether both parehani tarpanam and Mahalaya tarpanam should be done on the day next to Shradham. Somewhere I read that two tarpanams should not be done on the same day. Hence my doubt. Kindly clarify. Dasan Raghunathan *** Well. The question seems to be very logical till fully understanding about parehani tarpanam. Usually all tarpanams can be treated as a whole shradham. Because tila tarpanams are done in the place of a shradham. The said 'parahani' tarpanam is not an isolate one. It is an 'anga bhutam' of the shradham done. It should be done in the brahma muhurtam and another snanam also to be done after the completion of it. And also it is not done for both side pitrus, only for pitru vargam. When knowing and understanding the above facts, the question of 'Two tarpanams on a single day' will not arise I hope. But I want to know how many (%) are doing 'parehani' tarpanam on the next day morning?! nvs
