There are number of SnAnams

recommended by the SaastrAs

for one who is unable to take

"Head bathe"( VaaruNa SnAnam).

VaaruNam is the Mukhya SnAnam .

Wne it is not possible , then there are

others to use as preparation for

performing Vaidhika karmAs .

There are alternatives recommended by

Dharma Saastrams and AchAryAs

for the asaktan. These are: Paarthivam ,

Vaayavyam , Kaapilam , Dhivyam ,

Maanasam , Maantram , PanchAnga SnAnam ,

BrAhmam , AagnEyam , PurushAntara sprushti

Poorvagaavakaa sananams .

These are called GouNa or amukhya SnAnams .

Maanasam and Maantram are the easy to do

and most important snAnams after VaaruNa

SnAnam .

There are other snAnams known as Pushya SnAnams ,

which are for gaining some results ( KaamyArtham) .

Once again , When one is unable to perform

VaaruNa SnAnam , he can do as kriyAngam

either Maanasa SnAnam or

Mantra SnAnam . Both are powerful.

Here is a posting from adiyEn going back to 1997 .

Please access that for details :

Head Bath

Namaskaram.

A friend of mine is a religious person with deep rooted belief in Vaishnavism. He does lot of pujas at home including Aradhaanams for the Saaligraamams . But his health does not permit him to have “Head Bath” . But now being the month of “Margazhi, he is bent upon taking “Head Bath” very early in the morning which has resulted in health disorders.

Since he has to physically touch the Saaligraamams when performing an Aradhaana, he his afraid that sparing the head during bath may lead to sacrilege. Can any one clarify me that is it a sin to perform an Aradhaana without taking head bath or it is a must.

I was also told that it is not a must for Brahmacharis to take head bath for performing any puja. Please clarify.

Regards,

Sridhar
