Guest guest
Pranaam/Vanakkam, Dear Swami, Just about 7 weeks ago a friend of mine had a child and unfortunately it was a neonatal death. He belongs to (Kannada Tenkalai). He dwells in a remote area near Inverness where immediate excess to a Purohit is not possible at all, and most temple priest far away down here in South East England are also not available for Apara rituals. With enormous difficulties we manage to gain the aid of a qualified Gaudiya Vaishnavite purohits who undertakes funeral rites (Hare Krishna Cons.)from Glasgow. (I am not sure whether he is a brahmana or not, we were daunted to ask the issue and further we were in a desperate situation, I understand that HRC intiate brahmopadesam unto his devotees by devotion and not by birth) He seems very soundable in this rituals and done it as per thier doctrines, he also completed the first month rituals, unfortunately this person is leaving to Canada, therefore we have been left with no other options. Now my friend raised me all the gobbledygook questions, which also seems very greek to me, wherelse I am another fool in the town. Since I don't know anything at all about this post funeral rituals: Kindly please..please..please advise us; what they have do now..I mean what are the customary rites that the father or the family have to undertake or observe?? (Meanwhile we manage to find a srilankan Tamilsaiva-agama-Temple Sivaachaaryar who is only willing or restricting himself to perform any post funeral rituals after the completion of the first month) He advise us to seek the jurisdiction of our own vasihnava purohits and come back to him with the ritual feedbacks, My friends circumstances didn't accomodate any option for him travelling to India or elsewhere to perfom the norms.(wife's infirmity condition...bedridden) ------------------------------- It was a stillbirth(I am not sure whether it was a pre natal death or post fatality but the infant born lifeless)....was thier first child and it was a boy....no immediate family members in India...22nd of March 2009 (born at 10.11am) Inverness (Scotland)...in addition to the norms, do they need to do any pariharam??...meanwhile after completed the first year do they still have to continue the varushaaptikams for following 2nd 3rd...years to come?? And what are the penalties of omitting or neglecting the rites?? - Kindly please advise us accordingly. Looking forward for your kind and favourable considerations. Please pardon for any inconvenince caused. Dhanyavaath/Nandri *** " neonatal = relating to or affecting the infant during the first month after birth " . No samskaram is required for child below 24 months. Just they have to be buried without any mantram, no continued rituals after that. This will be found in all prayoga books. Nothing to worry. nvs
