Dear Mythili :

Swamy Desikan has blesed us with an elaborate Text

on AahArams that can be taken and those that we should stay

away from . This was written some 700 years ago . It is still

valid . Such as the power of his foresight .

Here is the URL for the above assembled by myself :

http://www.sundarasimham.org/ebooks/AN.pdf

This is the 21st ebook in the Sundara Simahm series :

http://www.sundarasimham.org

The ban on all tubers grown under ground is not valid .

SEppankizhangu , KaaraakkaruNai , Ginger , Turmeric are

used by Vaidhika Families . Garlick ,Oninon , PooNdu,

Radishes are not . Medical use of the latter is some thing else .

" Foreign " vegetables are suspect since they came in to use

later . Potato , Green chillies . Potato came from South America

to Europe . Chillies came from same place . Wasabi from Japan .

In orthodox homes , they use native black pepper from Kerala

instead of Milakaai .

Aayur Veda Saastram is an extensive subject to be aware off .

Respected Vasu mama,

Pranamam. I have a doubt.

My friend is frequently telling me that vegetables grown under the ground like potato, yam, chembu should not be consumed by strict orthodox people. Is there any real confirmation in these thoughts.

Because in the present day life, we used to take potatoes, chembu, inji etc.

If you could clarify , i will be really thank ful.

regards

mythili
