Guest guest
srI: srimate gopaladesika mahadesikaya namaha sri NVS swamin, dasoham. adiyen has a doubt. After a celebrating of subha karyam like wedding, 60th or sadAbhishekam, someone says that we should not do any sraddham, mahalayam or nimantaranam for 90 days after the subhakaryam. What is the basis for this? When will those karyams (sraddham, nimantaranam) should be resumed? vachika doshaha kshantavyaha nArAyaNA! dasan. *** Please go through the list given in Dharma Shastram for doing Naandhi Shraadham : 1. Pratama Rajasaha (wife's first period) 2. Garbhaadhanam 3. Pumsavanam 4. Seemantam 5. Jadhakarmam 6. When father first seeing the just born baby 7. Namakaranam 8. Annapraasanam 9. Chowlam 10. Upanayanam 11. Upakarma (I hope first upakarma - not mentioned) 12. Prajapathyati Vradham 13. Samavardhanam 14. Go dhaana vradham 15. Vivaham (marriage) 16. Yajgnam 17. Prathishtai 18. Nutana Gruhapravesam 19. Rajya Abhishegam 20. Ashrama Sweekaram Asp per Dharma shastra Shraaddha Khaandam - The 'Yugaadhi, Manvaadhi, Dharsham, Sankramanam' etc. shraadhams should not be done in the form of Anna Shraaddham in the house where Naandhi was done for 3 months. But, Adhyam, Avrudhaadhyam (11th day),Panchadasam (Shodasam), prthyaptikam (yearly shraaddham) are exempted. (It means, they should be or can performed in the form of Anna roopam - Note there is no question of leaving the shraadham) While doing Snananga tarpanam the person who performed marriage, upanayanam, Chowlam should not use the black sesame seeds and dharbhai for one year in the case of Marriage; 6 months in the case of Upanayanam and 3 months in the case of Chowlam. 'Naimithikancha Kaamyancha thilaireva vidhiyate' -- Pitru shraddham, monthly Amavasai, Masapirappu tarpanams are nithyam - naimithikam so they should be performed with sesame seeds and dharbhams. So, it is clearly mentioned on any reason there is no chance of leaving tarpanams like Amavasai, Masapirappu etc. With this wrong idea many people are doing the shraadhams out of house after a shubhams which is not correct. The above text as found in DS book was stored as an image in the following location : http://www.ahobilam.com/vaideekam/shradham/images/no-need-to-avoid-tarpanam-afte\ r-subhamkaryam.jpg nvs
Guest guest
sri: srimate gopaladesika mahadesikaya namaha Swamin, dasoham. Every year, on Thula krishnapaksha chaturdasi tithi adiyen performs matru tiruvidyanam. We haven't celebrated deepavali since 1991 except in this year (virodhi). We have been told that until pitru sraddham is completed, we cannot take perumal's aradhana theertam at home or in the temple, including Perumal's prasadam or wear new clothes; Suggestion was to perform Perumal aradhanam, complete sraddham and then take theertam. The conditioning is very tough. vachika doshaha kshantavyaha dasan. Sri: I wish to state another logic here: Any thing can be done unless otherwise specifically pointed out in shastram and the thing should not make any 'bhangam' (degrading the quality) to the following karma. Now if we apply this logic to Deepavali : There is no 'bhangam' for Shraaddha karma if we took oil bath in the early morning and wearing the new cloths. So, taking in of any water or food material is to be avoided which will make bhangam to Shraaddha. Also it is in tradition, preparing some acceptable extra sweets and savouries and offered to the bhokthas on festival days. Note:- 1. Now a days most of the karthas and bhoktas are not avoiding coffee before and after shraaddha, which is different. It shows, the interest to know about shastra is not kept in practical. 2. I could not understand the conclusion of your message. nvs
