Guest guest
Chandramasam is calendar based on lunar (moon) movement to the particular rasi. Chandra Masam refers to calendar month such as chittirai, vaikasi, ani, adi etc..As far as I know we do celebrate some festivals such as Sri Krishna Jayanthi, Avani Avittam , and so on based on Chandra Masam only. On the other hand Soura Masam is calendar based on Sun movement. The Souramasa calendar always starts with ShuklaPaksha Prathama thithi as first day.. Soura Masam refers to calendar month such as Chaitra, Vaiska, Jyeshta etc.. As far as I know we do celebrate some festivals such as Sri Rama Nvamai based on Soura Masam only@Astikas : pl correct me If Iam wrong..Dasan,BadriOn Thu, Oct 8, 2009 at 4:04 AM, Kalyani Rajagopalan <kalyanimksampath wrote: Hello, I have a question. Guest guest
Namaskaaram, Your explanation is right. But moth names are changed...chaitram, vaisaakam are lunar months - Named after the nakshatra where pournami falls in that month.. Chithirai, vaikaasi are solar months.
