Dear ksr,Please do not feel bad that though your parents tried to TEACH you into SRIVAISHNAVA process you had not learnt them!!!!We all are in the same boat and you are not an exception. SO PLEASE REMOVE FROM YOUR MIND ANY GUILTY CONSCIOUSNESS!!!! That is the first thing to do.

Now coming to the Sandhya and Amavasya Tharpan please engage a SRIVAISHNAVA vadhyar to initiate you into the routine at HIS FREE TIME. Keep a SANDHYA BOOK and AMAVASYA tharpan book handy .In fact you can go through the book first a few times reading it fully , understand the siginificance and mark those portions where you need more clarity or guidance.Same way with Amavasya Tharpan Mantras. Now you can request the Vadhyar to come and initiate you . Step by step you can follow with the book and get to know what is required to be done (other than the recitation of Mantras) and how .I am sure once you sit with Vadhyar and learn it you can do it yourself and FASTER too in due course!!! You can call the vadhyar once again to observe what you are doing and for corrections if any.

If you want to offer daily Tharpan to pithrus that too you can learn but then it is not a must until otherwise you have enough free time. As regards GAYA srartham there is nothing like it if you can do it. As a bachelor I used to go to Gaya from Ranchi for annual srarth of my father though I am the third child to my father. The then famous NARAYANACHAR (whose son is now a GAYAWALI and takes care of pilgrims) advised me that I should perform Gaya Srartham as it is said that if a father had one hundred sons and even if the hundredth child happens to visit GAYA he should do GAYA Srartham as nothing gives immense satisfaction to the departed pithrus than the GAYA SRARTHAM. The elders or eldest can do it later but the opportunity one gets to perform the Gaya Srarth should never be missed. In fact once the joint family system had vanished and the brothers live in seperate dwellings and cook and eat seperately then each one is at his own and even Annual Srarth should be done individually!!!!

Hence I would urge you to do the Gaya Srarth if you get an opportunity.REGARDSTRCOn Thu, Oct 8, 2009 at 11:05 AM, ksr00551 <ksr00551 wrote:

dear all

continuing on this discussion

i am youngest son in the family. we have lost our father last year.

we have recently completed all 12 months monthly puja and also the 1st yearly puja for our father.

althout my father and mother have tried their very best to teach us( me specifally) to srivaishanava process, i have neglected the same till recently.

we have a uncle ( aunty husband who is also related to my father)

i am planning to learn tharpanan and sandyavandam and also to the puja for father during amavasya .

plz enlightment on

1. is there any other learning/process i need to do for continuing to pay my respects for my father. i do daily puja ( nitya) for him.

2. i could be going to JSR this month end. is is correct for the youngest son to do tharpanan at GAYA ?
