Respectful SwAmin, Thanks for the guidance regarding Uttarayana tharpanam. That

day happens to be amavasya also. Is it not necessary to perform amavasya

tharpanam? And if we perform amavasya tharpanam, is it necessary to do the

Uttarayana tharpanam, as there would two tharpanams on a single day?

Sri:

When more than one punyakaalam occurs in the same day then

the rarest should be done leaving the frequent(s).

 

In this case Uttarayana punyakaalam is the rarest than Amavasya.
