a clarification

Respected NVS swamin,

With the blessings of elders and Emperuman's grace,we are planning to conduct

the Upanayanam of my grandson. He is running 9 years. We have at appropriate

stage had conducted namakaranam (at the time of punyahavachanam after birth) and

abthapoorthi homam. Are we to have jathakarma and nama karma on the day of

upanayanm also?

Kindly clarify.

if the Jahdakarma and Namakaranam done with all its angams (parts like

Udakasanthi, Ankuram, Prathisaram etc. with proper sankalpams and prayogams...)

in a perfect ritualistic manner then there is no necessary to do it again.

 

If you mean placing the child in the paddy and telling the names in its ear by

uncle and parents in such a traditional way is not enough for ritual perfection.
