Guest guest
Dear members, respected VAsu VAdhyAr, I understand that when we eat food where rice is served separately, we first perform parishechanam then prANAhuti (prANAya svAhA etc.) by taking in seven grains of plain rice with ghee as an offering to the 'inner agni'. ***There is only six times for six different matters: 1. We all have " Panch Praanans " -- Praana, Apaana, Vyaana, Udhaana & Samaana -- Praanans 2. And the sixth one is very important which is for the Paramaathma inherited in our soul and hence it is told as " Brahmane Swaahaa -- Brahman mey aathma amrudhathvaya " . *** My question is, what should we do when served food that already has rice mixed in with it, such as Pongal, puliyodharai, etc. - is there any prayer to be recited - as I was told that prANAhuti is usually done with only plain rice and ghee. *** We are having Aahara nyamam, we are not following that. Actually, we should not take Pongal, lemon rice etc. as main food, they are called 'Ohorais' veraity food between rice. Even we wish to take it as main, there should be some little white rice for Parshechanam purpose. Parishechanam is not required for tiffins. But some elders will do naivedhyam to the inner Brahman, that is all. *** many thanks for your help in advance with praNAMams Ranjan
