Marriage before or after a shraaddham

My Grandfather SraRdham falls on May 10, 2009. So, I agree to fix the marriage

after my Grandfather SraRdham and pl confirm the time gap in days / months that

we have to take for�fixing up the date for my sister marraige as per dharama

sasthra, being my father is the eldest in the family and kartha in performing

the SraRdham.

I hope you are not satisfied even after getting same replies from many persons!

 

First of all you should note a thing;

The part of a father of a girl in a marriage is just giving up the girl as

dhaanam. But it is a great dhaanam.

People are feeling / fearing pitrus like devils?!

Most of the shubha karmas are having the Naandhi shraaddham where pitrus are

invited.

 

The reason why we are not calling and keeping away pitrus in a shubham is to

give respect to other devatas / invitees.

 

Also devatas are common for all and they can be treated in public with less

aacharams.

But pitrus can not be treated with less madi / acharams, and can not be treated

in the public. Also, the remaining foods of pitru bhojanam can be distributed to

all.

This is the reason for not calling pitrus in a public address.

 

So, it is not a question of fearing about Shraaddham in a house before or after

a marriage.

 

But if we perform a shubham before a shraaddham then most of our family members

will be engaged and entertained with the follow ups of that shubham. The result

will end in no shraddhaa in the shraaddham which is to be avoided.

 

There is no follow ups except Parehani Tarpanam in the next day for a

shraaddham.

So, the shubham can be had in the next muhurtham as said by Shri. Kombur

Vankeepuram Madhavachar below.

falling immediately after a marriage is finalised, our SampradAyam is to fix a

Muhurtham for wedding of the children, after the ThiruvadhyAnam.� Any suitable

Muhurtham Day falling after�the srArdham day can be fixed for the marriage.

The reason is to avoid performing a srArdham immediately following the wedding.
