I would like to know about celebrating 70th birhtday. Like sashtiappthapoorthi (60th birth day), Sathabishekam (80th birthday), Is there is any function at 70th birth day. I heard this name for BheemaRathaSanthi(70th Birthday), Is it true, if so whether It is celebrated in iyengars. I hope the the 100 th birthday is Kanakabhishekam. Kindly clarify in detail.Thanking you SincerelyRanga ranga ***Fine!Shasti abdapoorthi means 61 and it should be conducted on the 61stbirthday.Sataabhishegam should be done at 83 years, by which the person mayhave 1000 chandra dharshan (83x12 = 996 in few years there will be 13 chandra dharshans) so, he is eligible for Sataabhishegam. The function conducted on 70th birth day is " Saptati " .Bhimarata shanti is to be done on 77th year, 7th month 7th dayand which is now conducted on 70th birth day by some smartas and not by iyengars. " Ugrarata shanti " to be done at the previous year of Shastiabda poortiand " Bhimarata shanti " to be done on the previous year to " Satabhishegam " is in practice. All of the above are not coming under nithy, naimithika karma, which means not compelled by shastras.nvs
