Guest guest
We four senior citizens (2 Gents & 2 Ladies) are plasnning to visit 5 Narasimha Kshetrams near Vijayawada. during mid December. While routes to Mattapalle & Mangalagiri appear to be clear, we are not sure of other locations. Can any knowledgable person in the group guide us? Are there any person at Vijayawada who can be contacted by phone to arrange a taxi to take us to these places (Driver should be familiar with the routes, timings of temples etc.) & also arrange for a neat (But not expensive} accomodation for stay at Vijayawada for 2 or 3 days? Thanks in advance, Srinivasan.
Guest guest
Dear Srinivasan ,Hotel Manorama should be decent one. It is close to Vijayawada Bus stand. For taxi arrangement - i would suggest to approach the same Hotel Management (at reception). It may be little higher price , but you can relay on them.I have asked my friend (he is in Vijayawada now) about the temple (Narasimha Kshetrams) details nearby Vijayawada. I will let you know in a day or so.Let me know if you need my friend's phone number. He is going to be in Vijayawada till Jan 2nd. You can book the hotel room online too - http://www.indiahotelreview.com/idl_hotel_manorama1_vijayawada.htmKindly let me know if you need any more details. Thanks and Regards,Ashok--- On Tue, 12/2/08, srinivasan santhanam <srinivasan_santhanam2003 wrote:srinivasan santhanam <srinivasan_santhanam2003 Five Narasimha Kshetrams near VijayawadaOppiliappan Date: Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 12:26 PM We four senior citizens (2 Gents & 2 Ladies) are plasnning to visit 5 Narasimha Kshetrams near Vijayawada. during mid December. Guest guest
Dear Sri Srinivasan,The pAncha Naarasimha Kshethrams are1. Mangalagiri (10 km from Vijayawada on Vijayawada-Guntur Road )2. Vedadri - 60 KM from Vijayawada on Vijayawada-Hyderabad highway. Please take turn at small town called chillakallu and cross the The Madras Cement factory (Ramaco cements) and proceed further 3. Mattapalli - 140 km from Vijayawada - Please take a turn from Kodad (100 km on Vijayawada-Hyderabad highway) - cross huzur nagar (15 km from kodad) and mattaplli is 25 km from huzur nagar. You can stay in Sri Mukkur Swamy's " Yagna Vaatica " aka " Madras Guest House " . The facility is managed by Sri Mukkur Swamy's Trust and the accommodation as well as food is provided to the devotees. There are no charges for the rooms and the food (as part of nityannadaanam). Contact Sri Gopal, who manages the annadaanam and accommodation facilities. Ph. +91 94406 57333 4. Vadapalli - From Mattapalli 80 km. You have to come back to huzur nagar and proceed towards Miryalguda route and ask for Raasi cement factory. Vadapaali temple is located opposite to Raasi cement factory 5. Ketavaram - From vadapalli about 60km. There are two choices. You can go to Ketavaram from Mattapalli by boat/road (as ketavaram is located on the opposite bank of mattapalli) or from vadapalli towards guntur you've to take a left turn at a place called 'piduguralla " . Inside it will be about 25km. From piduguralla vijayawada will be about 60km. Hence I would suggest Vijayawada - Mangalgiri- Vedadri-Mattapalli (stay overnight or couple of days) - Vadapalli - Ketavaram - Vijayawada.I would also recommend you to visit " Agiripalli " which is 15 km from Vijayawada where the presiding deity is " Vyagra Narasimhar " (Puli mukam). This place is in between Vijayawada-Nuzvid route. For travel, you can contact Sai Car Travels (their cars regularly ply around these places). Guest guest
Thanks again Mr. ML Srinivasan,We had been to the Narasimha Kshetrams near Vijayawada & information provided by you was very useful. I wish to record with pleasure the "Athithi Upacharam" rendered by Mrs. & Mr. Gopal at Mattapalli. The accomodation is maintained very neat & food provided was very homely. Though my wife was initially reluctant to stay at Mattapalli (as this being a remote place & facilities may not be available), Mrs. & Mr. Gopal convinced her to stay back & attend the Thirumanjanam of Narasimhaswamy next morning. Thus we had the Bhagyam of attending the Thirumanjanam at 4 AM on the first day of Marghazhi.Only 6 of us were in the Garbagruham and enjoyed the Thirumanjanam. Had we known earlier, we would have carried some fresh vegetables, fruits, plaintain leaves etc. from Vijayawada & could have been helpful to Sri. Gopal in rendering Athithi Upacharam. Other visitors in future may contact Mr. Gopal & take these things with them.We engaged Indica Car thru SaiCar Travels. Mr. Chanti was nice in the beginning and agreed for Rs.5/per Km. But on return he demanded Rs. 3000/ though we had covered only 450 KM. He became nasty enough to tell his driver to take away one of our bags if we do not settle for Rs.3000/.that too when we were at Rly. station to board the train. lProbably you may counsel him later.Future visitors may have tyo be careful in this regard.Anyway we were happy that we could have Darshan & blessingsat most of the places exceptKethavaram & thanks to the Mukkur Trust for the hospitality. Srinivasan.
