Guest guest
SrI: Dear Swamy Desika BhakthAs : Yesterday , I briefed You on the ongoing Kaimakryam at ThUppul Swamy Desikan Sannidhi and the need for just 5 Laks of Rupees to complete the rest of the Kaimakryam . adiyEn also mentioned about writing one slOkam or Verse from Sri Desika Sri Sooktis for 45 days. Here is the first arpaNam : Let us start with the MangaLa slOkam of Tatthva Mukta KalApam of Swamy Desikan on this sacred EkAdasi day . This Sri Sookti consists of 500 verses set in Sragdhara meter . Tatthva MUkta KalApam means that it is an aabharaNam ( Jewelery/necklace/ Kalaapam) made up of the pearls of Tatthvams . Muktaa means pearls; Tattvaa means metaphysical doctrines . Swamy has strung together these pearls ( Tatthvams) into a five strand pearl necklace . Each of the five strands (Sarams) have their own names: 1) JaDa dhravya Saram/about Jada substances . 2) Jeeva Saram/about individual Self 3) Naayaka Saram/about the Lord 4) Buddhi Saram/about knowledge 5) adhravya Saram /about non-substance The five strands(sarams) are combined to form the Kalaapam (Ornament). The key purpose of Tattva Mukta KalApam is to establish the doctrines of VisishtAdhvaitam on a sound basis through a critical evaluation of the rival schools of Vedanta. Those who are interested to learn more about Tatthva Mukta Kalaapa are referred to the following scholarly Texts: 1) VisistAdhvaita VedAnta: Dr.S.M.S. Chari 2)Tatthva Mukta KalApam: Dr.V.VasudEvAcchAr . The scholarly author has covered 225 of the 500 slOkams sofar ( upto Naayaka saram). We are working on bringing out the remaining 275 slOkams as Volume II in six months time frame . We will focus on the MangaLa slOkam of Tatthva Mukta Kalaapam today: LakshmInEtrOtpalaSrIsatataparichayAdhEsha samvardhamAna: nAbheenALeekarinkhanmadhukara-paDaleedatthahastAvalamBha: asmAkam sampadhOgaanaviralatulaseedhAmasanjAtaabhUmA KaaLindheekAntihAri kalayatu vapusha: kaalimA KaiDabhArE: Prose Order : Lakshmee-nEtrOtpalaSrI-satata-parichayAth samvardhamAna: nAbhee-nAleeka-rinkhan-madhukara-paDalee -datta hastAvalamBa: avirala-TuLaseedhAma-sanjAtha bhUmA , kAlindhee-kAnthi-haari KaiDabhArE: vapusha: yEsha: kAlimA asmAkam sampadhOghAn kalayatu ! Word by word Meaning : Lakshmee-nEtrOtpalaSrI-satata-parichayAth= Because of the uninterrupted falling of the jyOti from the dark blue lotus eyes of Mahaa Lakshmi on Lord HayagrIvan's ThirumEni , samvardhamAna:=consequent to which the dark hue of the Lord intensifies(grows). naabhee-nAleekarinkhan-madhukara paDalee-hastaavalamBha:=This dark hue is given additional growth opportunities by the assembly of dark hued honey bees that buzz around ( making reenkAram) the Lotus arising from the navel of the Lord . avirala-TuLasee-dhAma-sanjAta-bhUmA=This dark hue of the Lord's ThirumEni is further enhanced by the dense and dark green TuLasee garlands adorning His ThirumEni . Kaalindhee-kAntihAri=As a result of the combined effect of Mahaa Lakshmi's glances ,the reflection from the black hue of the honey bees and the TuaLasee garlands , the dark hue of the Lord's divine body exceeds even the hue of the black waters of the Yamunaa river . KaidabhArE: vapusha: yEsha : kaalimaa=May the dark color( kaalimaa) of Lord HayagrIvan's ( KaiDabhAri's) divine ThirumEni ( vapusha:) asmakam sampadhOgAn kalayatu= enhance further the flood of our wealth ! This is a MangaLa slOkam seeking Lord HayagrIvan's anugraham for this granta nirmANa kainkaryam. Swami Desikan's imagination as the lion among poets ( Kavi Simham) is abundantly displayed here . Normally , Lord HayagrIvan's hue is Suddha Sphadikam or brilliant white . Three factors complete with each other to make that hue become intensely dark : (1) Mahaa Lakshmi"s uninterrupted glances (2) lifting up of that dark hue by the black bees humming around the lotus arising from the Lord's navel and (3) the union of the dark green hue of the TuLasi garlands adorning His chest .This intense black hue superimposed thus on the Lord's ThirumEni defeats the color of the dark waters of Yamunaa river ( Kaalindhee-kaanti-haari).Swamy Desikan prays for this unique dark hue of Lord HayagrIvan to bless us continously for enhancing our wealth of bhakti and Tattva Jn~Anam . adiyEn will write about one selected slOkam a day to request your yathaa sakti participation in the SwarNa Kavacha Kaimkkaryam to fill the gap of Five laks Rupees. Swamy Desikan ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam , Oppiliappan Koil Sadagopa DhAsan P.S: Tomorrow , adiyEn will select a slOkam from Sankalpa SooryOdhayam of Swamy Desikan .
