SrI:

Sriman U.Ve. AnantapadmanAbhAcchAr Swamy , the publisher of Sri Nrisimha Priya sent a copy of his tribute to a few of us today. adiyEn would like to translate that tribute in Tamil into English and share it with all the SishyAs and abhimAnis of SrI Matam .

On May 8 , Sri Nrisimha Jayanti Day , Rg Veda GhanapAdi RangarajachAr Swamy of Thirukkudanthai will accept SanyAsAsramam From Prakrutham Srimath Azhagiya Singar

at DaSAvatAra Sannidhi , Srirangam .

Here is the Summary of the Vaibhavam of 46th Pattam-designate , U.Ve. Sri RangarAjAcchAr Swamy .

The Life History of Rg Veda GhanapAdi U.Ve.ThirumakkOttai B. RangarAjAcchAr

Swamy

In Chozha dEsam , on the banks of the legendary Cauvery river is located a peaceful village desired by many Sri VaishNavAs to reside permanently . This Vaidhika agrahAram has been the birth place of many Vedic scholars known for their Jn~Anam and anushtAnam . The name of this blessed agrahAram is Tillai ViLAkam . On the Manmata

Aani month , when Maga nakshatram was in ascendance( June 23, 1955) , a child was born here to Sri U.Ve. BhaktavatsalAcchAr and his dharma patnee , Srimathy Raajalakshmi .

This was their fourth child.

Emperor DaSaratha had four sons. Sage Vasishta named the fourth son of DaSaratha as

Satrughnan since this child was recognized as a victor over internal and external enemies

( Satrugna: nitya Satrugna: as commented upon by Aadhi Kavi Vaalmeeki). In a similar manner , this fourth child of the Thillai ViLAgam dampathis seems to shine like Satrugna in conquering inauspicious attributes like Kaamam ( desire) , KrOdham( anger ) and lObahm

( miserliness). This child was named Chi. RangarAmAnuja.

This fourth child was born at a time, when his father was the PeshkAr ( Chief administrative officer ) at RaamESwara DevastAnam . On the paternal and the maternal side , the vamsams of the child exhibited purity from birth onwards (Aajanma Suddhaa:).

Both the PithAmaha and the MaathAmaha Vamsams were celebrated for their Vedic Scholarship , Vaidheeka anushtAnam and AchArya Kaimkaryam .The paternal grandfather,

ThirumakkOttai IcchampAdi KrishNamAcchAr Swamy was an authority in PrayOgams as a revered Bruhaspathy. The maternal grandfather was ParutthichEri VenkatAcchAr Swamy served with distinction as an AarAdhakar at Sri Sannidhi during the reign of HH the 40th and the 41st Srimath Azhagiya Singars.

VidhyAbhyAsam ( The Schooling) of Swami

At the appropriate age ( garbhAshtamam) , the Father performed the Upanayana-BrahmOpadEsa karmaa. From then on , our Swami was engaged in undergoing KramAntha adhyayanam of Rg Vedham at ThiruvayyARu AmmAL agrahaaram under SubramaNya GhanapAdikal. From childhood onwards , Swamy was an abode of all

auspicious attributes ( Aathma GuNa sampannar) as one on whom the sacred glances of MadhusUdhanan fell at the time of birth ( JaayamAnO hi Purusham tamm paDathEna MadhusUdhana:) .Those teachers of Swamy recognized already that

Swamy was filled with all marks of a Vaidhikar ( Vaidhika LakshaNam) and will be

recognized and rewarded with many fitting titles .

After kramAnta adhyayanam , Swamy mastered BhrAmaNa and AaraNya Veda bhAgams under the KumbakONam Sankara Matam KrishNamUrthy ghanapAdi.During those days at the PadasAlaa , Swamy cooked his own food and observed the strictest AchAram . This strictness was praised by the SmArtha VidhvAns and AchAryAs of Swami.

VedAs are known to be limitless ( ananthaa vai VedA:) and possess six angams .

Swami wished to learn about the special meanings ( VisEshArthams) of the Veda bhAgams and angams and approached Thirumala NasarathpEttai Brahma SrI

SivarAmakrishNa SaastrikaL . This great Vedic teacher blessed Swami with Veda BhAshyam as well as Sikshaa , Chandas, Niruktam and JyOthisham.VyAkaraNam ,

the primary vidhyaa remained yet to be mastered . For fulfilling this need , Swami sought the anugraham of SriperumbhUthUr Raamachandra SaastrikaL for krama abhyAsam .

SampradhAya grantha abhyAsam

Sri VaishNava sampradhAyam is an ubhaya VedhAntha sampradhAyam and therefore

the NaalAyira dhivya prabhandham ( Sacred collect of the 4000 paasurams) has an equally important place with the VedAs. The uncle of Swamy , ParutthicchEri ArAmudhAcchAr taught the eager student the dhivya prabhandhams, Vaidhika prayOgams and dharma sAstrams. Just as Swamy Desikan was blessed by His uncle

AatrEya RaamAnujar with the acquisiton of all vidhyAs, our Swamy also had the distinction of having his uncle as one of his key AchAryas . By this time , our Swami had been blessed with SamAsrayaNam and Bhara nyAsam as well as the grantha ChAthushtya kaalkshEpam by HH the 44th Pattam Srimath MukkUr Azhagiya Singar.

Additional detailed KaalakshEpam on Srimath Rahasya Traya Saaram was pursued under Thirukkudanthai Mahaa VidhvAn , AgnihOtram RaamAnuja TatachArya Swamy

and became his highly regarded sishya .

In his thirst for learning more Veda Samhitais ( VedAdhyayanam) beyond his own Veda SaakhA ,our Swamy was like Sage BharadhvAja and wanted to learn about KrishNa Yajur Veda and Saama Veda PrayOgams and Sroudha karmaas . For study in these areas , Swamy approached ThiruvayyARu MasoolipattaNam RaghunAtha GhanapAdi and KumbakONam DharmarAja Sroudhi. These special training served later as a treasure in Swamy's performance of many Yaagams .

The blessings of the Current ( Prakrutam) Srimath Azhagiya Singar

The 60th birth anniversary (ShastiyaBdha Pooerthy utsavam) of Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha dhivya PaadhukA Sevaka Sri NaarAyaNa Yatheendhra Mahaa Desikan ( Prakrutam Srimath Azhagiya Singar) took place during his PoorvASramam at SrI MalOla KalyANa Mantapam at West Maambalam. At that time , our Swamy was a BrahmachAri and took part in the Rg Veda PaarAyaNam .Our Swamy's Brahma tEjas and AachAram was recognized by Prakrutham Srimath Azhagiya Singar and was celebrated .This recognition is similar to Swamy AlavanthAr recognizing future AchArya RaamAnuja at Lord VaradarAjan's temple and hailing latter as "Aamudhalvan".

Swamy's VivAham

At he appropriate time , our Swamy married a lady , who was equal to him in Kulam , age and auspicous guNams . The name of this noble lady is Kousalyaa DEvi. She was

the daughter of VadavanUr Chenji Thirumalai NallAn Chakravarty Sri KrishNamAcchAr and SoubhAgyavathy Jayalakshmi ammAL. Our Swamy was married during the month of Aani in the year 1988 , when the anusham star was in

ascendance . From then on ,he has observed gruhastAsrama dharmam in a blemishless manner ; Our Swamy has been blessed with three daughters and one son, who is twelve now and is a Vedic student at Sankara Matam . Our Swamy's acceptance of the invitation of the Prakrutham Jeeyar to enter into SanyAsa Aasramam as the future Chinna Jeeyar inspite of the young age of his children and devoted dharma Pathni is an illustrious example of his VairAgyam .

Swamy's commitment to his anushtAnam and the blessings of the Lord

The pramANa Vachanam is " yE mE garbahagatasyApi vruttim kalpitavAn Prabhu:".

The pramANa Vachanam says : The very same Lord of the Unieverse who protected adiyEn while I was in my mother's womb will not fail to protect me during other times of difficulties as well. With this kind of mahaa VisvAsam ( intense faith) in the Lord, our Swamy went about raising his large family . He was born in a large family and had a large family himself and these presented a lot of difficulties and yet our

Swamy's yoga kshEmam was taken care of by the Lord.During even difficult times ,

our Swamy never strayed away from His AchAram and anushtAnam .

At one time , Swamy was invited to take part in a major assembly of Vedic scholars and only two Vedic experts were invited from Tamil Naadu and our Swamy was one of the two.The other was the famous Brahma Sri Panchu ( PanjApakEsa ) SaastrigaL. our Swamy had to reject that important invitation because of the need to travel by train during Maasa sankramaNa tarpaNa dinam . Sri Panchu Saastrigal , a friend of the family and deeply knowledgable about dharma anushtAnam appealed to our Swamy to attend the all India Sadas at Ujjayaini but our Swamy was adamant about not

traveling by train and missing the Maasa PiRappu tarpaNam ( TarpaNa bhangam). Our Swamy sent a telegram conveying his regrets to the Sadas organizers and soon forgot about it. MalOlan who looks after the yoga KshEmam of His dear devotees had other ideas in this matter. Due to His anugraham , few days after the conclusion of the Sadas , Swamy recieved the maryAdhais ( honors) from the Ujjayani sadas in the form of a commendation letter , Saalvai ( deorative Upper garment ) and a sizable sum of ten thousand rupees . How can one describe MalOlan's compassion !

On another occasion , there was a crisis. This was the time of the birth of his son .

The medical staff at the KumbakONam maternity hospital declared that the lives of both the Mother and the child were at danger due to complexities. Our Swamy was worried . He returned to the PerumAL sannidhi at home and recited many times the slOkam from KaamAseekAshtakam ( Tvayi Rakshati rakshakai: kimanyai:) as well as the mantrams for uncomplicated labor ( sukha prasavam). Half an hour later, the good news came from the hospital that both the Mother and the child were safe. Swamy's

intense faith ( Mahaa ViswAsam) in the Vedham and the One (MalOlan) who is known through the VedhAs( Vedha Vedhyan) is revealed through this happening.

Notable among those who know DharmAs ( DharmavidhAm Vatishta:)

The PramANa Vachanam is : " aham hi yajn~AnAm bhOktA cha PrabhurEva cha"( I am the enjoyer as well as the Lord of all Yajn~ams). Our Swamy therefore wanted to follow this pramANam of GeethAchAryan and conducted Vedic Yagams and Bhagavadh AarAdhanam . Our Swamy's dharma patni was supportive of these Vaidheeka kaaryams in every way and Malolan , the Satya sankalpan , fulfilled the deep desires of our Swami. In these times , when many do not even sandhyA Vandhanam or Bhagavadh AarAdhanam , our Swamy performs Bhagavadh AaarAdhanam through NityAgnihOtram. He has also performed the seven Paaka Yajn~ams and stays as the leader in dharmAnushtAnams ( dharmavidhAgrEsar). During his thirty years of service as the chief adhyApAkar at KumbakONam , Our Swamy has trained 200 plus Vedic students .

The Divine command of MalOlan ( Dhivya Niyamanam of MalOlan)

Prakrutam Srimath Azhagiya Singar , Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha dhivya PaadhukA sEvaka SriVaNN SathakOpa SrI NaarAyaNa Yatheendhra MahA Desikan decided to select a highly qualified adhikAri for the Laskhmi Nrisimha AastAnam , when He experienced some difficulties with His health recently. Prakrutam Azhagiya Singar selected our Swamy , whom He knew about and respected even from His PoorvASramam days for Swamy's SuddhAchAram and Vedic scholarship .Our Swamy

accepted the command of Srimath Azhagiya Singar with bowed head inspite of his youth as well as the large size of his family.

Rg Veda GhanapAdi's Honors ( Birudhus)

During His satAbhishEkam year ( 2006 C.E) honored our Swamy with the title of Veda Ratnam.HH Srimath PouNDareekapuram Andavan Swamy , SrimushNam Srimath Andavan Swamy , Gujerath AmbhAji dEvasthAnam , Vedha dharma Saastra ParipAlana Sabhaa , SrungEri Sankara Matam and others have honored our Swami with many titles such as Rg Veda Kalpa taru, SrutyAchAra KalAnidhi, Vedha Moorthy, SaangAdhyAyee SalaskshaNa GhanapAdi , DaSagranthee , BhAshyajn~a and Vedha ChUDAmaNi.
